Sod weighs roughly 2000 lbs. per pallet, however, depending on wet the ground was before harvesting the grass could be over 3000 lbs. If you are interested in picking up sod yourself, it is best to make sure you have the right equipment to complete job. This will immensely help you avoid damage to your equipment and possible physical harm. Before coming to the farm to pickup sod make sure your truck and/or trailer is weighted enough to haul the weight of a pallet.

How many Square Feet (Sq. Ft.) Does a Pallet of Sod Cover?

One pallet of sod, specifically from a Big Jim’s Sod farm, covers roughly 400 sq. ft. and comes on a 48×48 pallet. For other farms it can vary, but this is typically the industry standard throughout central Florida.
